We had a wonderful time, more of a hamlet than a villa and we loved that aspect of it. The kitchen was a joy to cook in. Unusually well-equipped for a rental house.

Local Information

The utter drama and magnificence of the Alhambra in Granada is legendary – a good day trip from the villa.

There are also many fortified Moorish towns and villages in the area with outstanding relics, mosques and gardens displaying exquisite taste from a highly cultured and civilised people.

The breathtaking city of Ronda is only a 15 minute drive.  It sits astride a spectacular gorge and is a classic example of a fortified Moorish city – the old defensive wall, the area’s baths, mosques converted to churches by the Christians, and many other sites of archaeological interest. With the oldest bullring in Spain, Ronda justly claims to be the home of bullfighting.

From the annual April Feria in Seville to the Festival de Jerez, dedicated to Flamenco, there are festivals throughout the year devoted to traditional Andalucian dance and music.

The lush Grazalema National Park, which has some of the most wonderful walking, cycling and horse riding, is a 15 minute drive Here too can be found some of the famous ’white villages’ (Pueblos Blancos) from Zahara to the very well known Grazalema itself. Many others, including Arcos, Setenil, Gaucin and Casares are all within an easy journey and well worth exploring.

Nearby activities include cycling, swimming in lakes, riding, walking, tennis, racing car driving, hot air ballooning as well as exploring Roman ruins, Moorish remains, Paleolithiac caves, museums, art galleries and the architectural Jewel that is Ronda.

Our View

The Finca is reached down a narrow, unmade country lane, surrounded by vines, olive and fig trees.

It has been exquisitely renovated by its English owners who are well known restaurateurs & hoteliers.

Usually the preserve of five star hotel, each bed is made up with Egyptian cotton percale sheets and fluffy towels and delicious Penhaligons lotions and potions are to be found in every bathroom.

Arriving into the oasis of this tiny hamlet one is instantly transported to the comfort and luxury of your own private boutique villa. The two buildings are full of delicious surprises, an upstairs sitting room, a roll top bath in a bedroom, a retro football table, cupboards brimming with teas and olive oil. Nothing is too much trouble.

There are two swimming pools (both fenced) and a huge garden. The owners grow organic fruit and vegetables which guests can help themselves to. They also keep a bodega stocked with unusual and interesting wines and sherry if guests would like to purchase them.
