Corfu, famed for it’s glorious greenery and luscious interior, has become an immensely popular and luxurious destination. Often attracting the A list, this divine island offers stunning beaches, great night life, delectable restaurants and boat hopping between small and quaint tavernas meaning that even the most restless of pleasure seeker will be happy!
The north east coast is full of outstanding bays and white pebbled coves, higher up, away from the coast the interior is home to birds of prey, rare flora and rural simplicity. Water sports a-plenty can be found on many of the local beaches.
Nearby St Stephano is a simple and pretty harbour with seafront tavernas and a delightful beach.
For the teenagers the night life in Kassiopi is a short drive up the North coast or Ipsos to the south.
This is a fine place to spend a family holiday or with a close group of friends, potter into town for delicious local delicacies, take a small boat from Nisaki harbour around the cove to a tiny taverna for a long, lazy lunch of fresh fish and come home to a delicious dinner on the terrace under the stars.
One of the greatest pleasures of this gorgeous, wooded stretch of coast is that the sea-fronted properties are so accessible by boat. You can spend your mornings stopping off to swim at one or other pebbly cove, admiring the views of mainland Albania before seeking out a new taverna for lunch. All the tavernas have their own wooden jetties and their owners will wave you in, catch your rope and tie up your boat before handing you their menu.
Corfu town has a wonderful selection of shops and restaurants. It is possible to take a guided walk through the old town, stopping on the way for sustenance in any one of the many bars filled with beautiful people.
The island’s capital is a rambling and delightful mix of cultures, traditions and architecture. There is a French built promenade, cricket on the Esplanade and a Venetian elegance that encompasses the town.
This house is so close to the sea – it couldn’t be more perfect for a family get together on the water.
The house is big and beautiful, with 5 double bedrooms sleeping 12 (2 children on a double sofa bed in one of the bedrooms, or on the mezzanine) so would be an ideal pad to go with two or even three families to share. The house is just above the sea and boasts spectacular views across to Corfu town, Vidho Island and the Greek Mainland.
Inside the house there are lovely old wooden cupboards and stone cornicing, beautiful white curtains and sumptuous tie backs. The beds are wooden or colour washed, crisp white sheets ensure a good night’s sleep and the views out onto the sea from each room will never disappoint.
The circle is an art deco theme which echoes throughout, a big stone orb has been sculpted out of a single piece of Indian sand stone and sits outside the front door, there are circular windows which look out at the sculpture.
The pool has a horizon edge and looks straight out to sea, if you’ve had enough of the Ionian sun then the comfortable seating area is where you can loll with one of the latest best sellers or a glass of cold white wine. There are tables and chairs in several different spots in the garden from where you can enjoy watching the boats sail past as they wander around the Greek islands.
The garden below leads down to the sea where you can be in under five minutes, swimming and snorkelling off the beach and rocks here is one of the biggest bonuses of this house. The owner has ensured there is stone terracing running right around the plot allowing children to run to their heart’s content along pathways. Song birds and birds of prey frequent the olive grove setting and Dolphins jumping can be viewed from the terrace as well as within the house.
This is a lovely house with beautiful planting, amazing views and wonderful interiors, you’ll be happy here!
