There is so much on offer at Little Kingfisher that there may never be a reason to leave the estate! There are any number of professionals on hand to attend to guests’ every whim, whether it be a massage, a tennis or yoga lesson, a music lesson on a traditional instrument or some entertainment in the form of an Opera singer or Jazz musician!
There is also endless entertainment available for the children either with their parents or with a nanny – from painting & drawing classes to cooking lessons. They could even be taken to the local petting zoo or riding stables.
Small animals can be brought to the villa for the children to play with. If they are missing their favourite pet from home, they could take a dog down to the beach for a walk and a swim!Greece, of course, is all about island hopping. Boats from smaller Ribs to Sunseekers to large luxury yachts with an experienced captain, are available for hire and can be delivered to the jetty at the villa. It is possible to do the RYA boat licence training course.
The Ionian Sea with it’s mild winds, crystal clear blue waters & predictable weather patterns is wonderful for sailing. Lasers and ’P’ class can be rented locally. Other watersports either for beginners or for those looking to master advanced techniques, are available – windsurfing, water skiing, wakeboarding, parasailing, jet skiing, banana & donut rides, fishing trips and scuba diving.
This area is a twitcher’s paradise – there is a detailed list at the villa of birds which have been spotted in the area, some of which are quite rare such as the Glossy Ibis, the Spoonbill and the Pygmy Cormorant.
There are several wildlife reference books available to help guests identify the wide range of flora & fauna which can be found all year round. There are many spectacular butterflies, over 36 different types of orchid and widespread herbs – not to mention the 3 million olive trees on the island!
Walking from the understated car park into the house did nothing to prepare us for what we were to see, a fabulous view across the pool to the Ionian.
We both took sharp intakes of breath, literally breathtaking. It was a beautifully sunny morning when we visited and we saw the house at its very best. There are beautiful bedrooms all with sea views and their own bathrooms, each with stunning wooden floors and ceilings which boast Colonial-style large paddle fans.
The place is a dream and, best of all for us, it really doesn’t feel like a rental house. This is a real home from home, the owners have used dark colours and light walls with beautiful paintings collected from all over the world.
There are places to sit in the shade, in the sun, inside and outside. There are books and games as well as a wonderful concierge, Jo, who can help with your every desire, she knows the island backwards and can get you a table almost anywhere.
You’d be hard pushed to find a place as beautiful as this so near to the sea in Europe, and your friends would be properly jealous of your instagram feed!
