Paxos boasts some of the bluest waters in Europe, you would be forgiven for dreaming that you were in the Caribbean. With its endless olive groves and warm waters, Paxos is the most glorious island year round.
There is no airport on the island which has enabled Paxos to retain its simplicity and there is something very pure about the place.
Mass tourism has certainly not reached this idyllic spot, the tavernas are properly local but, due to the attraction of the island to the Italian visitor in recent years the standard of food is amazing for such a small place.
Enjoy delicious home made pasta, glorious salads and scrumptious fresh fish in great surroundings.
Take a boat to visit the white sands of Anti Paxos for the day – book lunch on the beach there and leave your boat bobbing just a few metres away in the blue bay – there is no marina in Anti Paxos, just drop your anchor and swim ashore!
For those cocktail lovers there is the trendy Ben’s beach with its decking and dancing at sunset…certainly the place to go and see the beautiful Italians. Swim around into Lakkos Bay just by Lakka for the ultimate in barefoot chic. Lakka also offers brilliant scuba diving. Lakka has good restaurants and bars as well as boat hire and some very pretty walking. There are some gift shops and an excellent ice cream shop! The scuba diving is based in Lakka and there is a good chemist, several supermarkets and it now has a cash point. For delicious bread head up the road to Loggos’ wonderful bakery.
Be the envy of your friends and spend time in one of our favourite houses on Paxos – the perfect place from which to enjoy the village of Lakka which has wonderful tavernas (one of the best on the island is a short walk from the villa). The house is set just above the sea with beautiful views down onto the village. A lovely villa with two bedrooms – ideal for a small family or group of friends.
The master bedroom is on the lower ground floor with heavenly views across the sea – it has a big en suite bathroom which probably boasts the best views from any room in the house. Upstairs (at pool level) is the second bedroom which has two children’s truckle beds so the house can sleep 6 people. On this same level is a huge sitting room with exposed beams and open plan kitchen, and outside the sitting room is the large shaded area for eating by the lovely swimming pool.
The house is in the most incredible position RIGHT on the water looking over the bay of Lakka and its turquoise waters. Anyone who is a Paxos regular will know that it is such a prime position and ideal for families who enjoy being ’in the thick of it’ and yet on a very peaceful little stretch looking across the bay to the beaches opposite which are all within easy walking distance. In the evenings cars stop driving into the middle of the village which means the house is wonderfully peaceful. The boat life below the house is fabulous to enjoy from the comfort of the pool.
For a larger group there is a tiny little temple the other side of the swimming pool which has a bed for 2 (but no bathroom so anyone staying here would share the bathroom inside the house).
