Fly to Preveza which is 55km from the villa. Lefkada is joined to the mainland of Greece by a bridge making it very easy to get to.
A hire car is necessary at the house.
The harbour town of Sivota is in the south of the island, a short drive down the hill from the house. A perfect spot for a quick drink, shopping for essentials and mooring a boat. It is a favourite spot to stop for the yachting fraternity who love its restaurants and tavernas. The port is natural and there is a small beach. There are many present shops boasting jewellery and ceramics.
Hiring a boat on Lefkada is one of the many pleasures and highly recommended. Moor the boat in Sivota. Boats are hired in Nidri and can be delivered to Sivota for a small fee by the hire company making it incredibly easy. There are 24 tiny islands in and around Lefkada, visiting beautiful aquamarine bays for snorkelling or swimming will be a daily adventure. Take your boat to the stunning island of Meganissi where you can spend a beautiful day on the beaches there, eating fresh fish in one of the wonderful tavernas before returning to Sivota in the evening.
The west coast of Lefkada boasts long and sandy beaches and the general vibe is laid back. The island is well known for its water sports and attracts many wind and kite surfers who adore the great waves.
There are many other beaches within a quick drive of the villa including
Nidri is about 20 km.
This is a beautiful villa which sits high up on the hillside above the gorgeous seaside harbour of Sivota with stunning views across the sea. It was utterly glorious sitting with the owners on their terrace looking across the water to Kefalonia and some of the smaller Ionian islands in front of the house.
The sitting room is a large and welcoming room with a very well equipped kitchen to one side and opens onto a comfortably furnished terrace running down one side of the house. The terrace is kept cool by overhead Colonial fans and the view is framed by the huge stone arches of the “windows onto the world”.
We loved the pool area which boasts the same dreamy views and has lots of parasols to ward off the midday sun.
With so many different places in the garden to explore and tumbling bougainvillea all along the stone walls this is a glorious place which would suit anyone longing to get away from the hurly burly of a hectic life.
The peace up at the house was quite memorable and the house is private and away from all but one other villa further around the hillside.
