Local Information

Corfu, famed for it’s glorious greenery and luscious interior, has become an immensely popular and luxurious destination. Often attracting the A list, this divine island offers stunning beaches, great night life, delectable restaurants and boat hopping between small and quaint tavernas meaning that even the most restless of pleasure seeker will be happy!

The north east coast is full of outstanding bays and white pebbled coves, higher up, away from the coast the interior is home to birds of prey, rare flora and rural simplicity. Water sports a-plenty can be found on many of the local beaches.

Nearby St Stephano is a simple and pretty harbour with seafront tavernas and a delightful beach. The tavernas are lively, day and night and there is also a cocktail bar if the mood takes you.

For the teenagers the night life in Kassiopi is a short drive up the coast.

This is a fine place to spend a family holiday or with a close group of friends, potter into town for delicious local delicacies, take a small boat from to a tiny taverna for a long, lazy lunch of fresh fish and come home to a delicious dinner under the stars.

One of the greatest pleasures of this gorgeous, wooded stretch of coast is that the sea-fronted properties are so accessible by boat. You can spend your mornings stopping off to swim at one or other pebbly cove, admiring the views of mainland Albania before seeking out a new taverna for lunch. All the tavernas have their own wooden jetties and their owners will wave you in, catch your rope and tie up your boat before handing you their menu.

Take the skippered boat out for a day, a wonderful itinerary can be planned ahead of time; visit the stunning nearby islands of Paxos and Antipaxos where you can have lunch before coming back to Corfu for a sundowner at one of the wonderful seaside tavernas.

Our View

A really glorious and luxurious house in one of our favourite parts of Corfu, this beautiful home is above San Stefano with all its lovely little tavernas and bars, just a few minutes drive down the hill.

The owners have been extremely clever with the design, both inside and out. Facing down to Avlaki beach, and set in 3.5 acres of olive groves, the accommodation is spread across two separate buildings, joined in the middle by a covered courtyard. The six bedrooms are all situated in one of the two buildings (3 upstairs and 3 down) with not one but two master bedrooms!

The interiors are cool in colour, lovely blues and greens set off the beautiful stone finish. Bathrooms are contemporary and all smart with the latest mod cons. Fluffy towels and crisp, white sheets come as standard in this truly exceptional property.

The infinity swimming pool is set off to the right of the house, near enough to dip in before breakfast but far enough away that if you wanted a little peace from the pool you can get it. A large pool house means you can enjoy a delicious lunch poolside without having to go back to the house. The views from both the house and pool are wonderful, and will keep you going through the winter.
