There is also a golf course in the Ropa Valley (50 minute drive) and tennis courts at Nissaki (12 minutes by car) or Kassiopi (15 minutes).
It is possible to walk into the nearest tiny village, Porta, the site of one of the oldest Festivals on the island which is held every year in late August.
A 10 minute drive will take you to Agni Beach which boasts some of the best tavernas on the coast. Hire a boat from here, or arrive by boat to one of the taverna jetties and a boat boy will help moor the boat. Enjoy a delicious lunch of fresh fish and ask them for a sun bed if you want to spend the day on the beach.
15 minutes from the house is the fabulous long white pebbly beach of Avlaki (flanked by protected forest) where there is sailing available. There are reliable onshore winds in the afternoon making it great for every standard of yachtsman. There are other good tavernas filled with local Corfiots on Sundays who enjoy its exceptional cooking and cooling breeze under the trees.
The beautiful bay of Kouloura can be seen from the road as you drive down from the house, it is a 10 minute drive. Kouloura is an idyllic horseshoe-shaped harbour (the most photographed bay on the island) with a good taverna. Enjoy lunch or supper and watch the little boats bobbing right by your table.
The popular fishing village of San Stefano is 15 minutes from the house. There are several great tavernas as well as a good cocktail bars, eat right on the sea in any one of the restaurants. There is boat hire in the village as well as some small supermarkets and gift shops.

There is good nightlife for teenagers and some great gift shops and internet cafes.
It is a longer 40 minute drive down to Corfu Town which has bars and cafes galore.
Nothing could have prepared us for what a wonderful impact this house would have on our first visit. With a view spanning 270 degrees, this large family house ticks all the boxes. The old stone farmhouse and olive press are built in an idyllic setting in the hills among the olive groves with stunning views down to the sea.
The views are spectacular you can see the full mountain range in Albania and, on a clear day you can even see Paxos.
Very careful thought has gone into the colours throughout the house, calm blues and serene pinks sit alongside beautiful white painted furniture and glorious contemporary furnishings. The flooring is a combination of antique French flagstone and reclaimed pitch pine.
There are several different places to eat outside each commanding a more arresting view than the last. There is sun and shade, wooden or stone tables, comfy sunbeds, sun umbrellas and, of course, the pool!
The grounds have been recently landscaped by Jennie Gay who is well known on the island and has done an amazing job. They are brimming full of fruit trees including mulberry, peach, lemon, fig and orange.
It is the most delightful place to spend a lazy afternoon in the shade with a favourite book, away from the hustle of the pool or the bustle of the nearby beach. A long way from the next nearest property the outside buildings create what appears to be a small hamlet, sympathetically arranged and linked by a series of beautiful terraces, steps and gateways.
You will have such a wonderful stay in this house and will be dreaming of that view all winter.
