Paxos is a little bit of the Caribbean in Europe, the crystal clear water of the Ionian has to be seen to be believed. You can rent a boat and go for lunch on Anti Paxos (2km) with its spectacular white, sandy beaches. Take a cold bag filled with refreshing drinks and explore the hidden beauty in every bay, drop the anchor and swim through the mysterious caves that dot the coastline. The local restaurants are of a high standard serving both traditional Greek food and some Italian cuisine.
Do also visit the other pretty villages: Loggos on the east coast of the island and the small town of Lakka to the north.
Spend an evening at The Sunset Bar in Erimitis looking west over the Ionian sea and down towards the dramatic white cliffs
We love this house, it is charming and comfortable. It is a delightful place to stay in the south of the island.
The interiors are vintage with a lovely chic style which shows in every corner. Don’t expect home cinemas and top of the range power showers, but do expect to be gently calmed by the lovely, old fashioned interiors. The bedrooms are small but perfectly formed. Simplicity at its best, the outside areas are what make this house special – the big pool area and various places to sit in the shade are all very comfortable.
The setting is wonderfully romantic in the rustling olive groves with just the cicadas to serenade you as you settle down with an ice cold glass of wine in the evening.
The house is in a great spot for families with teenagers as it is within easy access to Gaios and the gentle nightlife there. We have visited this house many times and we are always struck by its charm and elegance.
