The house is in North East Corfu, just above San Stefano and a 3 minute drive from the little village of Sinies which has a well-stocked supermarket
San Stefano is a 10 minute drive but is easily accessible on foot- 10 minutes downhill walk, slightly longer on the way back up!
Kassiopi is a 15 minute drive
Fly to Corfu from all London and most regional airports.
Corfu Airport is 1 hour by car
A hire car is recommended – the house is on an unmade road so a 4×4 is recommended outside of July and August.
Corfu, famed for it’s glorious greenery and luscious interior, has become an immensely popular and luxurious destination, offering stunning beaches, great night life, delectable restaurants and boat hopping between small and quaint tavernas meaning that even the most restless of pleasure seeker will be happy here, right on the sea.
The north east coast is full of outstanding bays and white pebbled coves, higher up, away from the coast the interior is home to birds of prey, rare flora and rural simplicity. Water sports a-plenty can be found on many of the local beaches – Avlaki beach for sailing and kayaking and paddle boarding or Kalami a little further south, for wake boarding and water skiing.
Nearby St Stefano is a pretty harbour with seafront tavernas and a delightful beach. The tavernas are lively, day and night and there is also a cocktail bar if the mood takes you.
For the teenagers the night life in Kassiopi is a short drive up the coast.
Down an unmade road above the delightful fishing village of San Stefano we found this beautiful house.
We entered the house on a brilliantly sunny morning through a cool hallway and down some stone steps to the outside kitchen and sitting room where comfy chairs with bright Mexican cushions welcomed us. The huge covered courtyard dining area with outdoor kitchen is perfect for foodies, where we could imagine our guests cooking up a storm. The indoor kitchen is wonderfully retro with top of the range equipment and lovely tiles on the walls. Bright paintings have been hung on every wall.
Large ceiling fans keep the bedrooms cool (there is also air con). Each bedroom has been beautifully decorated using different bright colours, cool pinks and greens, bright purple, red or blue. Even the keys to the bedroom door have a feather key ring in a bright colour. The bathroom furniture is wooden and has also been painted in a punchy hue.
The pool terrace was alive with plants, comfortable pale blue sun loungers and towels. Agapanthus and cyclamen bobbed heads along side bougainvillea and jasmine, a heavenly combination. Views down to the sea and across to the Albanian coast completely took our breath away.
You couldn’t fail to have a wonderful time at this house. It would be a joyful place to spend a week or two.
