Paxos boasts some of the bluest waters in Europe, you would be forgiven for dreaming that you were in the Caribbean. With its endless olive groves and warm waters, Paxos is the most glorious island year round.
There is no airport on the island which has enabled Paxos to retain its simplicity and there is something very pure about the place.
Mass tourism has certainly not reached this idyllic spot, the tavernas are properly local but, due to the attraction of the island to the Italian visitor in recent years the standard of food is amazing for such a small place. Enjoy delicious home made pasta, glorious salads and scrumptious fresh fish in great surroundings.
Take a boat to visit the white sands of Anti Paxos for the day – book lunch on the beach there and leave your boat bobbing just a few metres away in the blue bay – there is no marina in Anti Paxos, just drop your anchor and swim ashore!
For those cocktail lovers there is the trendy Ben’s beach with its decking and dancing at sunset… certainly the place to go and see the beautiful Italians. Swim around into Lakkos Bay just by Lakka for the ultimate in barefoot chic.
Those who visit Paxos go back time and time again.
Set up high on a Northwest-facing hill in one of the most magical parts of Paxos, this house is the perfect combination of privacy and impressive style in a magical setting.
Each bedroom in the main house has its own ‘character’ – a product of clever design choices and carefully chosen objects. The owners are passionate collectors of art and the house is scattered with beautiful and rare pieces. Reclaimed chairs and retro light fixtures painstakingly sourced from across Europe and even a black and white tiled bathroom – you will want to photograph every single corner of every room.
The garden, designed by Anna Cassavetti, is large and planted with olive and cyprus trees as well as sweet smelling herbs, lavender, rosemary and others. Settle down in any one of the many peaceful seating areas to watch the sun set with a glass of something cold in hand, before enjoying fresh fish or some delicious Greek delicacy prepared by your very own cook.
Set atop the graduating slopes of the garden behind the house sits what can only be described as the most beautiful swimming pool – ever. Created from huge slabs of emerald-coloured marble, it looks like something designed for a Greek god or goddess.
A truly special house, a work of art rather than a rental villa.
