Local Information

The house is situated in the Ourika Valley close to the foothills of the high Atlas Mountains.

a few minutes from the unforgettable André Heller gardens – ANIMA a fabulous sculptural feat packed with magical gardens, mirrored artworks and enjoy the clouds of cooling water mist sprayed through the olive groves in the afternoon heat.

Don’t miss the large Monday Berber market at the nearby town of Tnine Ourika or call at some of the farms that grow herbs and flowers in the valley for the perfumiers and herbalists who sell a wide variety of exotic perfumes in the Medina.

Take a day trip or two to Marrakech and sample the bustle and excitement of the “red-walled city” from the narrow streets of the old Medina and Djemaa El Fna Square. There are snake charmers, story tellers, monkey trainers and a fabulous food market. The water sellers add to the colour and the food stands are too many to count.

Our View

Dar Ahmar is a wonderful house just a half hours drive to Marrakech. The house can be found in a beautiful, very safe private gated group of houses in the countryside. We love the fact that these houses are entirely private from each other but in a group and benefit from shared use of a tennis court.

The interiors are very tasteful and combine a stylish blend of classic elegance and local character. Beautiful stone floors are strewn with locally sourced rugs and ornate lanterns. This really is a beautiful house. There is an open-plan living/dining room with a fireplace at each end, a romantic four-poster bed in the master suite and a good mix of twin, bunk-bed and double rooms for families.

With a resident cook among the permanent staff, relax with your friends and family by the pool in the beautiful gardens before dining al-fresco in the shade, looking out across the extensive lawned gardens.
