Local Information

The rural location of Dar Mino provides peace and beauty away from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech, just 25 mins away. Don’t miss a visit to the legendary Djemaa-el-Fna Square with it’s lively performers and souks. Fancy a chance with the snake charmers or belly dancers?

Morocco is a land of spice-scented mystery and medieval Kasbahs and puts your senses on high alert. The country is a magic carpet ride of extremes, from the searing Sahara to the snow-dusted High Atlas Mountains.

Ourika is bustling with life and things to do. Visit the Saffron farm and botanic garden (November harvest) Jardin Amina with it’s delicious cafe or The Scented Garden with organic soaps and beauty products. Drive through the olive groves to the old town of Agmat and explore its Roman remains.

Take a day trip or two to Marrakech and sample the bustle and excitement of the “red-walled city” from the narrow streets of the old Medina and Djemaa El Fna Square. There are snake charmers & story tellers, monkey trainers & a fabulous food market. The water sellers add to the colour & the food stands are too many to count. There is also a thriving night life that will keep the young occupied into the small hours.

Visit historical monuments such as Koutoubia, Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs or the new European modern district called Gueliz or Ville Nouvelle which host modern restaurants, fast food chains and big brand stores.

The attractive village of Aghbalou is nearby and offers a range of small restaurants close to the water’s edge. Located at an altitude of 1500m, this is an ideal place for those seeking cooler air during Marrakech’s long hot season.

Marrakech is home to 3 fabulous championship golf courses and it’s possible to ski in the Atlas mountains… in your jeans!

Our View

We saw this lovely villa on the Bab Adrar estate on a beautiful morning in November. It is a fabulous house, lovingly developed by its English owners to a high standard. With large rooms filled with beautiful furniture, this house is one to relax in great comfort.
We walked through the cool courtyard and into the house, a great place from which to enjoy the tranquility of this estate. We loved the the large garden and rolling lawns with established plants and trees. When we were there, the views were of snow-topped mountains and rolling fields. Dar Mino is a bird watching paradise, nightingales, hoopoes and bee-eaters are all frequent visitors.

There are Moroccan touches in all the rooms, from arched doorways to lovely leather slippers in every bedroom. Two of the larger bedrooms have dressing rooms and they all have doors which lead out onto terraces with spectacular views.

In the middle of the garden is the large L-shaped pool, surrounded by comfortable white sun loungers. Here you will also find a beautiful pool house and there is table tennis in the shade for bored teenagers and competitive dads!

We wandered through a small gate in the garden wall to the tennis court (shared with other villas).

The House Manager, Mustapha, can help organise anything during your stay; transfers, yoga, day-trips to the mountains or souk. You can be active, or just stay by the pool while the resident cook prepares your next meal – whatever you decide, you will be very well looked after here.
