Dar Zita is situated in the Ourika valley, located in the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains. The valley clearly exhibits Morocco’s vivid diversity with its olive groves, vineyards and cherry trees and is home to abundant wildlife and exquisite flowers. The surrounding area offers a series of walks of differing levels of ability. One of the most popular walks is undoubtedly the 7 waterfalls near the village of Sett-Fatma.
Don’t miss the large Monday Berber market at the nearby town of Tnine Ourika or call at some of the farms that grow herbs and flowers in the valley for the perfumiers and herbalists who sell a wide variety of exotic perfumes in the Medina.
Take a day trip or two to Marrakech and sample the bustle and excitement of the “red-walled city” from the narrow streets of the old Medina and Djemaa El Fna Square. There are snake charmers & story tellers, monkey trainers & a fabulous food market. The water sellers add to the colour & the food stands are too many to count. There is also a thriving night life that will keep the young occupied into the small hours.
Visit historical monuments such as Koutoubia, Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs or the new European modern district called Gueliz or Ville Nouvelle which host modern restaurants, fast food chains and big brand stores.
The attractive village of Aghbalou is nearby and offers a range of small restaurants close to the water’s edge. Located at an altitude of 1500m, this is an ideal place for those seeking cooler air during Marrakech’s long hot season.
Marrakech is home to 3 fabulous championship golf courses and it’s possible to ski in the Atlas mountains… in your jeans!
This is a wonderful house just outside Marrakech, it is within a very safe private gated group of houses in the countryside. We love the fact that these houses are entirely private from each other but in a group. The best of both worlds!
The extensive lawned gardens on the property are set amongst olive trees and waving grasses. Roses and climbing plants surround the house and there is an orchard with oranges, lemons and various fruit trees at the bottom of the garden.
Ultra comfortable beds in each of the bedrooms combining European comfort with Moroccan chic give you the rest and recuperation required for an unforgettable holiday. The comfy and inviting sitting room seats 10 on sumptuous sofas and armchairs with a roaring log fire available for those who stay during the cooler months.
There is a tennis court in the centre of the grounds just outside the garden which is shared with the other houses, a great place for an evening game before a dip in the swimming pool.
Breakfast is lovingly prepared by Zahira, the cook, who is an extraordinary talent, she is also lovely and is there to take the hassle out of your holiday.
