The house is in Aigos Dimitrious, north west Pátmos
Vagia is an excellent swimming beach, a 15 minute walk (by road), 10 minute walk (by trail) or 4 minute drive
Livadi Geranou is a 4 minute drive, an excellent swimming beach with beautiful aqua water and a small off-shore island you can swim to
Kambos is a 4 minute drive, for water sports, essential groceries, a taverna, cafe and bar
Scala is a 12 minute drive, for bicycle hire, bars, restaurants and night life
Fly to Kos International Airport. The transfer to Skála, the port town of Pátmos, is by ferry (4 hrs) or catamaran (1 hr 45 mins).
Alternatively, fly to Athens and transfer by ferry from Piraeus, the port of Athens – there are up to five mid-afternoon ferries weekly.
The house is a 12 minute drive from Skála.
Car hire is recommended – a 4×4 is not necessary but is recommended.
There are many beaches and coves to explore on Pátmos, both sandy and pebbly. There are two excellent swimming beaches just a short drive from the house, or a 10 minute walk down but longer back up. Alternatively, head to Psili Amos (fine sand, in Greek) where you will find the best long sandy beach and a taverna, either a twenty minute walk on a goat path over the hill from Diacofti, or you can arrive by sea – there is a drop-off and pick-up boat from Skala. Grigos and Diaofti are also nice sandy beaches.
The island has an 11th century monastery in Hora, a UNESCO-designated World Heritage site medieval village at the top of the mountain above Skala. Or, for the more active, there is water-skiing, wake-boarding and kayaking in the clear and calm waters at Kambos beach, a newly-resurfaced road all over the island so cycling is a fantastic way to explore, with bike hire in Scala. For a more relaxed pace, it is possible to book a guide to reach out-of-the-way beauty spots on foot.
After your adventurous journey to get here, you will not be disappointed – Eagle’s Nest really is one of a kind.
Sitting on the top of a hill, this immaculate property boasts incredible sea views across the island yet is just a 10 minute walk down to the sea (longer back up!). The house is super comfy to a very high standard indeed, with beautiful interiors filled with unique furniture the owner has collected on his travels. The house is petite but unique and perfectly formed, in traditional stone with domed ceilings and brick or stone arches.
The northern beaches on Pátmos are quieter, so feel like hidden discoveries. Vagia beach is one of the closest and is excellent for swimming, it is a crescent of tiny multicolored pebbles, perfect to spend an afternoon lying under the sun and there is a small taverna within easy reach high up in the rocks.
Please be aware there are some drops at the house, so it is not recommended for toddlers.
