Local Information

There is swimming, tennis, table tennis, badminton and boules within the grounds of the villa. There are also many wonderful walking trails throughout the area. Just a short walk from the house is Bodega Doña Felisa Chinchilla, a vineyard where you can enjoy tours and tasting, with optional diner.

One of the oldest towns in Spain, Ronda, is a 15 minute drive away. A typical Andalucian town with white washed houses, traditional olives groves and surrounded by pine forests is set off by its dramatic location atop a deep mountain gorge with historic defences. The oldest bullring in Spain is in Ronda and well worth a visit, as well as a host of other attractions such as; Baños Árabes (the Arab baths), which are the best preserved in Spain, Palacio de Mondragón (Moorish palace) built in 1314 and the Palacio de Rey Moro y la mina (Palace of the Moorish King), with the water mine and fortress leading to the bottom of the gorge.

Near Ronda, the Cueva del Gato (Cat’s Cave river pool) is a magical place at Benaojan, and across the valley you will find Acinipo Ruins, a Roman settlement and amphitheatre.

There are also many tapas bars and restaurants in the Ronda area, including Bardal which has a Michelin star.

Our View

El Ventorillo sits in 50 acres of formal gardens and parkland, high up on an Andalusian hill, facing west with beautiful views towards the ancient Roman ruins of Acinipo.

Each of the 3 buildings are beautifully styled, with antiques collected from around the world, stunning paintings and sumptuous linen. This is an elegant and comfortable home and the owner’s attention to detail and quality is clear.

There are 2 houses and a cottage, connected by a large swimming pool and sun terrace. They have big sitting rooms with very comfortable furniture, the bedrooms are each individually and beautifully styled, and the bathrooms are decorated with local tiles, marble and mosaics.

There are endless places to get away from the rest of the group, and many dining areas; inside, outside or by the pool. For alfresco dining everyone can be seated at the long marble topped tables on the main terrace with the scent of lavender and pomegranates, before retiring to sofas nearby for a post dinner drink. There is also a shaded area next to the pool, with a table for lunch or dinner and a poolside bar equipped with fridges.

The lush garden adjoins the large terrace that runs the full length of the house with an abundance of outdoor furniture. A small pathway leads to the pool area, which is bordered by ancient oak trees.

Enjoy a morning game of tennis, take a dip in the large pool, explore the extensive grounds for miles without interruption, you may come with the intention of getting out and about but we don’t think you’ll want to drag yourself away.
