What a fantastic time we had. Everything went extremely smoothly, the villa was great and we loved Lucy. I can’t thank you enough for all your help for the past 2 years of bookings, you are by far the best agent we have used.

Local Information

Corfu, famed for its glorious greenery and luscious interior is a popular holiday destination. This divine island offers stunning beaches, delectable restaurants, great nightlife and boat hopping between small coves and quaint tavernas meaning that even the most restless pleasure seeker will be happy.

The north east coast is full of outstanding bays and white pebbled coves. Higher up and away from the coast, the interior is home to birds of prey, rare flora and rural simplicity.

Avlaki beach, a short drive down from the villa or a 1.6km path walk, offers a variety of watersports and two tavernas. Nearby San Stephano is a simple and pretty harbour with a small beach and seafront tavernas which are lively both day and night. 1.5km from the villa the local village of Sinies provides a well-stocked supermarket, local bakery and coffee shop. Kassiopi, at 3.7km away, is a short drive and offers a picturesque harbour, large choice of tavernas, bars, shops, pharmacy and supermarkets.

This is a fabulous area to spend a family holiday or with a close group of friends where you can potter into town for delicious local delicacies, take a small boat to a beachside taverna for a long, lazy lunch and return home via a swim in a stunning cove.

One of the greatest pleasures of this glorious wooded stretch of coast is that the sea-fronted properties are so accessible by boat. You can spend your mornings stopping off to swim at one of the many coves, admiring the views of mainland Albania, before seeking out a new taverna for lunch. The tavernas have their own wooden jetties and their owners will wave you in, catch your rope and tie up your boat before handing you their menu. Or instead of hiring your own small boat you can take a skippered boat and plan a wonderful day at sea visiting further reaching areas of Corfu – the undiscovered islands of Ereikoussa or Othonoi to the north west or the stunning islands of Paxos and Antipaxos to the south, where you can have lunch before returning for a sundowner at one of the wonderful seafront tavernas.

The island of Corfu has a rich cultural heritage and plays an important role in the ancient history of Greece. A visit to Corfu Town, UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a must where you can experience the Venetian architecture, forts, museums, winding streets, shops, bars and restaurants.

Our View

This is a glorious light, spacious and relaxed house with all the comfort we have come to expect from the wonderful houses in the north east of the island. In a fabulous position above Avlaki beach, this is a most beautiful, comfortable and well presented family home, designed by a Norman Foster trained architect. There are breathtaking and far reaching views over olive groves towards Albania, yet Avlaki beach is just a 20 minute walk downhill (longer on the uphill return) or a short drive, while you can stock up on provisions by walking to the local village of Sinies.

From the moment we arrived we knew this was a special place – the glorious double-height sitting room leads out onto a covered terrace which has views across Kaparelli island and over to Albania. Just spectacular – we could have sat on that terrace all day and into the evening looking out at the stunning view.

Both the interior and exterior colours of the villa are from a palette of chalky tones allowing the modern and vintage furnishings and artwork to provide vibrancy. The large bedrooms are punctuated with bright colours and the luxurious bathrooms are oozing with fluffy towels and delicious lotions and potions.

The attention to detail is noticeable – beautiful walk-in showers in white bathrooms which are all en suite to spacious bedrooms, all with access to terraces via French doors and with views towards the sea. The expansive olive grove surrounding the house creates a wonderful setting and the garden and grounds provide privacy amongst nature.

This house is well thought out for families with young children with stair gates provided.

The huge pool area is simply stunning, with the free-form swimming pool shaped around ancient olive trees and spacious seating and sun loungers surrounding. A perfect space for a large group.

With the delightful housekeeper Lucy, Ella House is definitely a destination worth visiting. We would love to bring our families and friends to this heavenly spot in the olive groves.
