Paxos is a glorious Greek island in the Ionian Sea – just south of Corfu, it is one of a kind. The crystal clear water has to be witnessed first hand. It is possible to charter a yacht or motor boat to lunch on Anti Paxos (2km) or just to explore the hidden beauty in every bay, drop the anchor and swim through the mysterious caves that dot the coastline.
White pebble bays on the east coast and majestic white cliffs and deep caves on the west, give families a range of things to explore. For the “intrepid” there are walks through flower filled olive groves, gentle fishing, snorkeling and diving. Restaurants are of a high standard on the island, serving both traditional Greek food and the most delicious Italian cuisine. Eating out on Paxos is a pleasure.
The picturesque fishing village of Loggos is just a few minutes walk downhill from the house, it is the smallest of three towns on the island, but has some of the best tavernas and bars on the waters edge – for the best breakfast head to Taxidi, and in the evening, cocktails at Roxy before dinner at Vasilis! You will also find boutique shops, mini-markets, a bakery and boat hire – no trip to Paxos is complete without a day out on a boat. Around Loggos is also without question one of the best places to snorkel on the island.
Loggos has always been one of our favourite spots and with views across the bay to the old windmill on the other side, the house is wonderfully positioned to see sun all day from sunrise until sunset. Houses like this don’t come up for rent very often – it’s such a treat to be within walking distance of everything, including two beaches.
