A few minutes drive from Weligama bay, where you can enjoy candle lit bars and restaurants, beach fires and both local and tourist shops. 3 seconds walk to the hidden bay just below, where you can buy a coconut to sip on the beach. Galle fort is only 40 minutes away and the mellow swimming beaches of Wijaya and Ahangama only 20 minutes. Hidden Bay is wonderfully away but conveniently close! Hiriketiya’s lazy laid back surfy vibe calls from just an hour away.
Sweet jasmine scent hangs in the air, delicate white flowers twirl down from high trees, shaken by shy monkeys. Suriyawatta has a tree house feel to it. Perched above the sea level but accessible down an easy set of steps is exactly how you would picture a dream house in Sri Lanka on the Indian ocean. The food was so lovingly prepared and quite difficult to imagine eating out when it is so good in the comfort of your home looking out at sunset surfers and rolling waves. Lounging in the pool the sounds of waves make for atmospheric background music.
Beach bars and restaurants are a short TukTuk ride and unspoiled coconut beach shacks are a stones throw.
