Ferry/Catamaran crossings operate daily during high season from both Dubrovnik and Split to Korcula
Korcula is famous for its quaint fishing villages, winding coastline, fertile olive trees and vineyards growing award winning grapes. Boasting delicious food, dramatic scenery and fascinating cultural and historical sites, this island has the best of all worlds and is virtually undiscovered.
Korcula Town itself is only a 5km drive or 15 minute boat journey from Villa Lovra, and is often affectionately named ‘Little Dubrovnik’ for its many similarities to that iconic city. The main town itself is on a peninsula, with many little lanes leading directly down to the water’s edge. It was built under Venetian influences, the old town is shaped in a fish bone, acting as an architectural form of air conditioning to keep its inhabitants cool and comfortable, protected from the effects of the wind and the sun. There are no cars here, and each charming cobbled street has something new to offer around each corner. There are many excellent restaurants and bars here, with wonderful views of the sea.
Spend your days on the water, exploring the many secluded beaches and bays. Head in to town for a delicious lunch of fresh grilled fish, before heading back to your villa to relax in the afternoon sun with a good book.
Villa Ivy is a very cool, ultra modern house surrounded by pine forests. The incredible views over the sparkling Adriatic and scattered islands fill every viewpoint and the design of the infinity pool means its hard to tell where one stretch of water ends and the other begins. Inside, the interiors are kept very simple, with touches of sapphire blue furnishings inspired by the ocean outside.
The hugely impressive central atrium stretches over 2 floors and fills the house with light. Unusually for a holiday rental, instead of adding extra bedrooms, the owner decided to maximise the various living areas and the result is plenty of thoughtful places to sit, chat and relax- the 1st floor sitting room especially is a wonderful place to delve into your holiday read.
From the central atrium, fully opening doors on the open plan living area merge the exterior with the interior beautifully. For those who like to try their hand at the BBQ this is the perfect place to host.
Below the house, steps lead down to a small jetty from which it’s possible to swim and moor a boat. Built into the rock face along the steps are 3 terraces from which you can choose your spot to watch the sunset. From here it’s the perfect place to make use of the paddle boards and explore the neighbouring islands.
