Corfu, famed for it’s glorious greenery and luscious interior, has become an immensely popular and luxurious destination. This divine island offers stunning beaches, great night life, delectable restaurants and boat hopping between small and quaint tavernas meaning that even the most restless of pleasure seeker will be happy!
The north east coast is full of outstanding bays and white pebbled coves, higher up, away from the coast the interior is home to birds of prey, rare flora and rural simplicity. Water sports a-plenty can be found on Kalami. This is a fine place to spend a family holiday or with a close group of friends, potter into town for delicious local delicacies, take a small boat from to a tiny taverna for a long, lazy lunch of fresh fish and come home to a delicious dinner under the stars.
One of the greatest pleasures of this gorgeous, wooded stretch of coast is that the sea-fronted properties are so accessible by boat. You can spend your mornings stopping off to swim at one or other pebbly cove, admiring the views of mainland Albania before seeking out a new taverna for lunch. Most of the tavernas have their own wooden jetties and their owners will wave you in, catch your rope and tie up your boat before handing you their menu.
Mella itself has the rare combination of being situated on the edge of the town but in a rural, secluded and private location. It is within a few minutes walk of beaches, wonderful sea swimming and the pretty harbour and amenities of Kassiopi.
Kassiopi’s twinkling lights at night look gorgeous from the candlelit terrace of Mella from where you can see the floodlit ruins of the centuries-old Roman castle.
This lovely familly home was built by the owner in a beautiful location on a hillside just above the lively fishing port of Kassiopi. The views from the house are across the rooftops of the village.
Mella House was build from locally quarried stone ensuring it merges beautifully into its natural surroundings. The immediate landscape is punctuated with maquis, olive trees and spear-like cypress trees. In Spring and Autumn the ground is carpeted with lovely, highly scented pink cyclamen.
The owner has created a home with every modern comfort. The rooms are large, light and airy, each with their own stunning view and terrace. He built the house for his family’s enjoyment so there is a true sense of a home rather than a purpose-built rental villa.
The house is built on a steep hillside which enabled the owners to create the living areas on the higher level. Internal steps lead down to the bedrooms on the lower ground level, all with terraces leading to the pool and garden area.
We think you will have a fabulous time here with your family, the huge sitting room leads into the kitchen and dining room promising an amazing living space for everyone. For those wanting a little more space there is a TV room and a separate office.
This house would be ideal for families with older children (teenagers) who are interested in going into Kassiopi in the evening.
