The crystal clear water of the Ionian islands has to be witnessed first hand, it is said that the sea is so blue that it reflects on the undersides of the seagulls as they fly across the water!
It is possible to charter a yacht or motor boat to lunch on the white sands of the nearby island of Anti Paxos (2km). Exploring the hidden beauty in every bay by boat is a real treat, drop the anchor and swim through the mysterious caves that dot the coastline.
There is scuba diving, great snorkelling and some gentle water sports in the north of the island.
The local restaurants are of a high standard serving both traditional Greek food and the most delicious Italian cuisine.
Eating out on Paxos is a pleasure. White pebble bays on the east coast and majestic white cliffs and deep caves on the west give families a range of things to explore. For the “intrepid” there are walks through flower filled olive groves, gentle fishing, snorkelling and diving.
This house is really something special. The owners have poured into it their creativity and imagination and the result not only looks stunning but has the most magical sense of place as well. Mixing the modern with the traditional, it has been designed for you to completely switch off. All the mod cons are here but carefully hidden so you can slip into a slower pace of life.
Set into the sloping sides of the West coast of Paxos the views are of donkey paths winding downwards through the ancient olive groves towards the open sea. The sunsets here are unforgettable and the sunset bar at Erimitis is only a short walk away in case you wanted to join the views with a cocktail!
Also within walking distance are the azure waters of Erimitis beach – head down in the morning for a swim and then back to the house for coffee under the veranda.
Around the house are terraced gardens full of aromatic herbs, lemon, lime, pomegranate, almond and fig trees. The large outdoor dining area is set between olive and cypress trees and at night is romantically lit with twinkling lights.
Inside the beds are huge and immaculate, each bedroom has picturesque views. The simplicity of the rooms mask the quality of the furnishings- the towels and sheets are heavenly! Upstairs the large open plan living and dining area is dotted with designer furniture and handmade pieces made of local materials. Every inch of this house has been carefully thought about.
Come here by yourself or with friends- eat delicious seafood, sleep in huge comfortable beds, swim in the sea – you will love it!
