Paxos boasts some of the bluest waters in Europe, you would be forgiven for dreaming that you were in the Caribbean. With its endless olive groves and warm waters, Paxos is the most glorious island year round. There is no airport on the island which has enabled Paxos to retain its simplicity, there is something very pure about the island.
Mass tourism has certainly not reached this idyllic spot, the tavernas are properly local but, due to the attraction of the island to the Italian visitor in recent years the standard of food is amazing for such a small place. Enjoy delicious home made pasta, glorious salads and scrumptious fresh fish in great surroundings.
Take a boat to visit the white sands of Anti Paxos for the day – book lunch on the beach there and leave your boat bobbing just a few metres away in the blue bay – there is no marina in Anti Paxos, just drop your anchor and swim ashore!
For those cocktail lovers there is the trendy Ben’s beach with its decking and dancing at sunset…certainly the place to go and see the beautiful Italians. Swim around into Lakkos Bay just by Lakka for the ultimate in barefoot chic. Lakka also offers brilliant scuba diving. Lakka has good restaurants and bars as well as boat hire and some very pretty walking. There are some gift shops and an excellent ice cream shop! The scuba diving is based in Lakka and there is a good chemist, several supermarkets and it now has a cash point. For delicious bread head up the road to Loggos’ wonderful bakery.
Those who visit Paxos go back and back.
Villa Serenity is a stunning stone house just outside of Lakka on Paxos. This villa has been recently renovated to a very high standard, and is in an ideal location being just 700m from gorgeous Monodendri beach.
This villa provides the perfect getaway, surrounded by the picturesque landscape of Paxos with pretty olive groves.
There are three spacious bedrooms at the villa, each with their own bathroom, and a large sitting area that leads out on to the veranda, furnished with comfortable garden chairs. There’s a well-equipped kitchen for whipping up some delicious Greek delicacies with your family of an evening. Enjoy the fruits of your labour by dining al fresco at the outdoor dining table under the stars. With plenty of room around the pool area, there are loungers for the sun-worshippers among you, as well as shaded seating areas, perfect for curling up with a good book (or for a little siesta!). With a good-sized pool and plenty of surrounding space, the outdoor areas here are wonderful – embrace the Mediterranean way and relax as a family with an afternoon pool-side.
Being just a stone’s throw from Lakka means that you’ve a great choice of tavernas and cafes to choose from, and Monodendri beach is within walking distance – perfect for a morning swim before the excitement of the day unfolds!
