Local Information

The Spellbinding Dutch Galle fort covers all posts. With swimming beaches and beach bars around 20 minutes tuk tuk ride and the lure of the charm filled cobbled streets of the ancient fort, Galle and the surrounding beaches has something for the whole group. Dripping in rich history and culture, traditional food and craftsmen ship can be found a plenty but throw in some swanky cocktail bars and eclectic art galleries it all takes a different shape!

Our View

We visited this house at night, meandering down the colonial, cobbled streets, stopping for an unforgettable supper, soaking up the atmosphere.
Steeped in history, the Galle fort is mesmerising, twinkly lights lead us to a quiet road just a few minutes from the famous Amangalla hotel in the fort. The Merchants House is one of the largest houses in the fort, built over 200 years ago. As you enter it just seems to open out, unfolding to even more beautifully curated spaces. Bedrooms and sitting rooms are very private with their own balconies to boot, along with a fabulous pool set in a walled flower garden.
Sumptuous seating and sun beds offer a true relaxation escape, a tropical hideaway all in the hustle and bustle of the ancient fort town of Galle.
