The North East of Corfu has to be seen to be believed. It is an unexpected mix of clear-water cloves, drifts of spring flowers and scents of herbs.
As well as the many beaches, tavernas, bars and restaurants you can find wild orchids, tortoises, Venetian belfries, winding village streets and local farmers leading donkeys laden with kindling.
The house is in the north east of the island, it is less than a minute walk to the sea and the beach of Kerasia which has a great taverna and a jetty. Wonderful for a peaceful swim before breakfast.
The small village of San Stephano is in the next cove – which is known for its crystal clear waters. It has mooring for boats as well as a small selection of tavernas and bars (including a good cocktail bar). There are a couple of small supermarkets, good for stocking up, and some gift shops.
Avlaki beach is also just a short drive away, the perfect place for windsurfing and sailing and has two excellent tavernas. There is so much to do and see from admiring imposing country manor houses in lush olive groves to visiting tiny hilltop chapels with a solitary candle burning inside.
Nearby Kalami offers water skiing and other water sports.
The island of Corfu has to be seen from the sea to be fully appreciated. Take a boat out to find the more secluded coves on the north east coast that you can only get to by boat. Enjoy the beautiful beaches or snorkeling in one of the many bays before a sun downer at one of the lovely tavernas nearby. Boat home again and dine on your villa terrace in the silky night air.
Kassiopi is a lovely local town with all sorts of different shops, from the regular fruit and veg to great gift shops. It is a draw for the teenagers who love its safe night life.
Corfu Town (50 min drive) offers a more cosmopolitan experience with music and a theatre, enjoy the unexpected culture Corfu has to offer.
Wander down to the water in seconds from this house right on the sea and you will be enchanted by everything it has to offer! This is a delightful former olive press and is just what we have been waiting for!
A small house with three bedrooms means that six of you could have a fabulous time, nipping to the sea before breakfast or wandering straight onto one of Corfu’s best beaches for the day. There is even a fabulous taverna in walking distance and the lovely little fishing port of San Stefano in the next door bay meaning that there is a great choice of places to go out and eat all within a 5 minute drive.
The bedrooms have loving touches – white covers, crisp white sheets and fluffy towels – with tasteful antiques sitting alongside simple contemporary furniture. There are bright rugs on terracotta floors and lovely, clean-lined bathrooms. Every bedroom has an en suite bath or shower room.
The house sits at the far end of Kerasia beach – there is an element of Durrells chic about it. Drive across the top of the beach to reach the house and then enjoy the delights of being in one of the best spots in all of Corfu once you arrive.
Behind the house is a huge olive grove, the place is private and delightfully cut off from any neighbours. This is the haven you’ve been looking for if you love the sea and enjoy spectacular views!
