The crystal clear water of the Ionian islands has to be witnessed first hand, it is said that the sea is so blue that it reflects on the undersides of the seagulls as they fly across the water!
It is possible to charter a yacht or motor boat to lunch on the white sands of the nearby island of Anti Paxos (2km). Exploring the hidden beauty in every bay by boat is a real treat, drop the anchor and swim through the mysterious caves that dot the coastline.
There is scuba diving, great snorkelling and some gentle water sports in the north of the island.
The local restaurants are of a high standard serving both traditional Greek food and the most delicious Italian cuisine.
Eating out on Paxos is a pleasure. White pebble bays on the east coast and majestic white cliffs and deep caves on the west give families a range of things to explore. For the “intrepid” there are walks through flower filled olive groves, gentle fishing, snorkelling and diving.
For those who love the beach in walking distance, have oodles of children or grandchildren and adore a bit of comfort, this is the house for you! Arriving at Alexa is very exciting – the drive through the olive groves opens up onto a beautifully positioned house with spectacular views of the sea.
The owner has created a stunning house with the very best interior design, the finish is superb. For those with children, every gate to the pool has a combination bolt on it to keep those little people safe, and, unusually for Paxos, there is masses of space around the house for badminton, boules, table tennis and Yoga.
The rooms are beautifully furnished – the owner has a great eye for interior design – with lovely, calm, muted colours punctuating the white. Dark greys, pale blues and white throughout give this house a glorious seaside feeling. Of particular note are the beautiful linens and beds, the fluffy white towels and gorgeous Jo Malone products combine to give the place the luxurious finish you would expect.
The pool is T shaped with steps at one of the short ends and an underwater bench seat at the other short end. The pool is big enough that the small children are able to play in the shallow end while grown ups can do more serious lengths or teenagers can dive in at the deep end.
There is an accent on generosity at this house, the kitchen and dining areas (both inside and out) are so well thought out and would be perfect places for a large group to gather for a delicious lunch in the shade or a twinkly dinner under the stars.
With wooden floors and white walls throughout this house feels spacious and comfortable, and is perfect for a large group. The nearest village of Loggos is our very favourite on the island and is a 5 minute drive. Loggos is great for supper in the evening or freshly baked bread in the morning. Kipiadi beach is a 10 minute walk and is a great place to spend the day.
