Situated on the south west corner of the island in the Leivatho region, Villa Kalliste is in the tiny village of Kleismata. This spectacular setting is home to sandy coves and beaches, extensive hillside walking tracks and charming tavernas. This location is authentically Greek- everyone falls in love with Kefalonia.
The capital city of Argostoli is just a 20 minute drive away, where you can wander down the pebble-paved sea promenade, in one direction leading to the entrance of the city and the De Bosset bridge, the largest stone bridge in Europe at 689.9m long. In the opposite direction you will find the Katavothres, a rare geological phenomenon, as well as the famous lighthouse of St. Theodoroi. In the Lithostroto, the commerical area of the city, there are plenty of cafes and shops to browse, and in the main area, Vallianos Square, there is a wide range of restaurants and bars. There is also a fab seafront where you can buy fresh fish directly from the brightly coloured boats and admire the loggerhead turtles, or have a coffee and sample some of the delicious cakes on offer! Nearby is also a huge lagoon, with the recent addition of pedalos- a big hit with the children.
Kefalonia also has an array of outstanding beaches, the main ones not to be missed being Myrtos, Antisamos and Petani.
Situated more locally to the villa is Avithos beach, with its chilled beach bar and sun loungers. If you are looking for a more secluded spot, head to Paliolinos beach in Klismata, where you can walk a short distance over the rocks to discover your own little sandy coves. The villagers here love the tourists to liven up their day!
Private yachts, kayaking excursions, boat trips to local islands, water ski-ing and snorkeling can all be arranged in Kefalonia.
The island is just ideal for walking enthusiasts, as it is surrounded by local agricultural tracks leading to deserted coves, vineyards and olive groves against stunning backdrops of Mt Aenos, and in the summer months the paths are lined with beautiful wild flowers.
The food is incredible here; made with the freshest ingredients, there are plenty of superb authentic family run tavernas, sample homemade Kefalonian dishes such as lamb kleftico, scordalia and local sea bream.
Finding a house in Greece and so near to the sea with a huge lawn is rare! And this is rare indeed.
The house is top notch in every way and the owners have been very diligent thinking of everything. The gardens are lush and really well looked after with imaginative planting around the pool and a large grass area. There is also a fabulous croquet and boules lawn for endless entertainment! The terrace which runs all along the front of the house overlooks the swimming pool is great for both eating and for sitting out in the evening having a drink looking at the beautiful view beyond the pool. The outdoor cinema area with a barbecue is absolutely perfect for relaxing in the warmth of the evenings.
Bedrooms are brightly furnished with white walls and floors and punches of deep pinks and blues in the furnishings. The bedrooms have doors out onto the beautiful terrace for easy pool access!
The property is divided into two buildings, the main house and the annexe. Both are equally lovely – the annexe being a great option for teenagers or grandparent wanting a little peace and quiet from the larger group.
All in all this would be a wonderful place to bring a large family group – in the perfect spot on the island, a really lovely house near beaches.
