Sleeps 14+2

Nothing to fault – and I am fussy! It was exactly as you would have wished your own house to be. Everything high end, even down to the mosquito nets. 2 beds in the little cottage perfect for the older teens. Loved the space for badminton, and the barn for table tennis and babyfoot. Beautiful pool with insane views.

Local Information

The house is in a great place from which to explore the island. There is unbelievable walking in the hills on tracks behind the house, with spectacular panoramic views of Albania, Corfu Town and Mount Pantokrator, yet it is just a short drive to the sea. This part of Corfu has a great choice of beaches with many different amenities. There is also a golf course in the Ropa Valley (60 minute drive) and tennis courts at Nissaki (20 minutes by car) or Kassiopi (20 minutes).

The nearby hamlet of Porta is the site of one of the oldest Festivals on the island which is held every year in late August, a traditional Greek festival which is definitely worth a visit if you are there when it is on.

A 15 minute drive will take you to Agni beach which boasts some of the best tavernas on the coast. Hire a boat from here, or arrive by boat to one of the taverna jetties and a boat boy will help moor the boat. Enjoy a delicious lunch of fresh fish and ask them for a sun bed if you want to spend the day on the beach.

20 minutes from the house is the fabulous long white pebbly beach of Avlaki (flanked by protected forest) where there is windsurfing, kayaking, paddle boarding and sailing available. There are reliable onshore winds in the afternoon making it great for every standard of yachtsman. There are other good tavernas filled with local Corfiots on Sundays who enjoy its exceptional cooking and cooling breeze under the trees.

The beautiful bay of Kouloura is a 15 minute drive. Kouloura is an idyllic horseshoe-shaped harbour (the most photographed bay on the island) with a good taverna. Enjoy lunch or supper and watch the little boats bobbing right by your table.

The popular fishing village of San Stefano is 20 minutes from the house. There are several great tavernas as well as a good cocktail bars, eat right on the sea in any one of the restaurants. There is boat hire as well as some small supermarkets and gift shops.

Kassiopi is 20 minutes from the house, this lively fishing port is full of local life; it has some good suppliers from boat firms, a car hire company, larger supermarkets as well as a whole host of bars and tavernas. There is good nightlife for teenagers and some gift shops.

It is a longer 50 minute drive down to Corfu Town which has bars and cafes galore.

Our View

Nothing could have prepared us for what a wonderful impact this house would have on our first visit. A really luxurious house with glorious gardens and spectacular views of the mountains of Albania, this large family house ticks all the boxes.

The seven bedrooms are light and spacious and spread across three separate buildings, all are en suite and have super king size beds, bar one. Bathrooms are contemporary and smart with the latest mod cons. Fluffy towels and crisp, white sheets come as standard. The interiors are warm in colour and sit beautifully against the stone finish.

The outside space is generous, with an outside sitting room with open fireplace and serene view, lots of places to sit in sun or shade, and quiet spots for those that want to get away for some time with a book. The stunning swimming pool has a bathing platform, perfect for little people to splash in, but also a great length for a morning swim.

The best thing about this location is that you can hideaway and relax, escape for a walk in the hills above the house, or head down to the coast in under 15 minutes where you can hop on the owners boat (for an extra cost) and a skipper will take you to all the best coves, beaches and tavernas, a wonderful and fun way to explore the rest of island.
