The waters of the Ionian are clean and clear, it honestly has to be witnessed first hand. You can rent a boat in Gaios and go for lunch on Anti Paxos which is only 2km from Paxos. There are white sandy beaches, shallow waters and nothing much else!
Boats are a great way of exploring the island – there is hidden beauty in every bay, drop the anchor and swim through the mysterious caves that dot the coastline.
The local restaurants on Paxos are of a good quality, we have a great list of suggestions. It is possible to eat both traditional and contemporary Greek food, as well as Italian fare.
In the north of the island is the lovely village of Lakka which has some lively bars and good present shopping. The smaller harbour of Loggos is the most picturesque. All three villages are incredibly close, the island is small and truly glorious, olive groves abound, take a boat out and do some gentle fishing or snorkeling. Dolphins can be spotted from the shore. Eat great seafood at Monodendri Beach where it is possible to take out kayaks.
This superbly positioned villa has extraordinary views of the sea and cliffs by Erimitis Bay. The sense of light and space on arrival was tangible and we were completely spellbound by the beauty of the place. It took us a mere 5 minutes to walk down to the glorious beach below the house, with its crystal clean water and gentle breeze we knew we had found something special.
The house has five bedrooms, all comfortable and good sizes. The sitting room is really big, dominated by its fireplace and wacky works of art (the owner is a painter and his work can be found all over the house). The floors are stone and the exposed beams in the ceilings bring a natural quality to this house that other villas lack.
There is a really big terrace outside the sitting room with French windows, it is here we can see our clients sitting watching the sun disappear into the sea every evening. To have such a famous view on your doorstep (people flock to Erimitis Bar every evening to watch the same view of the sun making its descent) is incredibly special.
In easy reach of the beach, this house has extensive grounds and glorious green gardens. It is a one off… truly spectacular.
