Nearby San Stephano is a simple and pretty harbour with seafront tavernas and a delightful beach. The tavernas are lively, day and night and there is also a cocktail bar if the mood takes you. This is a fine place to spend a family holiday or with a close group of friends, potter into town for delicious local delicacies, take a small boat to a taverna for a long, lazy lunch of fresh fish.
For teenagers the night life in Kassiopi is a short drive up the coast, approximately 5km away. Kassiopi has a picturesque harbour, wide choice of tavernas, shops, restaurants, bars and a pharmacy.
One of the greatest pleasures of this gorgeous, wooded stretch of coast is that the sea-fronted properties are so accessible by boat. You can spend your mornings stopping off to swim at one or other pebbly cove, admiring the views of mainland Albania before seeking out a new taverna for lunch. Most of the tavernas have their own wooden jetties and their owners will wave you in, catch your rope and tie you off before handing you their menu.
Agni is lovely little village. In Greek Agni means unspoilt which describes this bay perfectly! It may be small offering only three tavernas and a few other buildings but is a beautiful place to catch some sun and a dip in the clear waters. You are able to hire boats from Agni.
Kalami beach is 10 minutes drive, where you can enjoy water-skiing, donuts and kayaking.
The island has a rich history and plays an important role in Greece’s ancient history. Visit cosmopolitan Corfu town, shop in its narrow streets and enjoy a drink on the ‘Liston’. Alternatively visit its various museums (Archaeological & Byzantine) and palaces. Visit the Byzantine castle of Angelokastro for a spot of history and drama – imaginative children love it.
The tavernas are of a great standard and you will receive a warm welcome, whether visiting for breakfast, lunch or dinner – or just coffee or drinks. Lovely to sit by the sea at night in one of the many tavernas we are happy to recommend.
We were refreshingly impressed when we visited, this house really is something special! Set on the hill just above San Stephano, in one of the best locations and exactly where everyone wants to be, the house is walking distance to the bars and restaurants of San Stephano, yet has the most serene views across the Ionian to the Albanian coast and mountain range behind.
The house is nestled in amongst olive and Cyprus trees, oleander and bougainvillea, it is wonderfully private with just one other villa nearby. The accommodation is spacious and bright, with furniture by Timothy Oulton and white walls with artwork throughout by Slim Aarons.
Cool and stylish, the beautiful design of the property is matched by the obvious quality of all the finishing touches; a modern kitchen that is fully equipped for every need, floor to ceiling glass throughout, including the master en suite with views over the olive groves and down to San Stephano, remote controlled black out blinds and a lighting system throughout designed to create the ultimate night time ambiance. The terrace is surrounded by a frameless glass balustrade so you can enjoy uninterrupted views.
We think you would be very happy here indeed, we certainly would be!
Please be aware that due to the modern design and drops at the house, children must be over 8.
