Local Information

Brac, famed for its beautifully radiant white stone, is the longest and most elevated of all the Dalmatian islands, 48km long and 14km wide. Less frequented by tourists than nearby Hvar and Split, Brac is an example of perfectly preserved island life, with a rich and fascinating history, and dramatics landscapes – a mixture of rocky cliffs, sapphire waters and thick Aleppo pine forests.

The famous white-pebble beach, Zlatni Rat (Golden Cape) is a must – adorning so many of Croatia’s tourism campaigns, it’s easy to see why, with its unusual geography and changeable nature, from shallow and shaded to deep and sun-blistered, depending on the direction of the wind. Nearby to this beach is Bol, on the southern side of the island, and the oldest town on the coast. Explore the town’s narrow and winding cobbled streets, bustling with local life, in typical Mediterranean spirit. There is ample evidence of the deep history of Bol in the many monuments dating back to the 11th century, and is a great place to visit to learn more about Brac’s rich past.

Heading to the East coast, you’ll find the smaller town of Sumartin, founded in the 17th century by pilgrims attempting to flee from Turkish rule. The influence of this is evident in the difference in dialect in Sumartin from the island’s other towns. Here, fishing, ship-building and olive growing are the main occupations for locals, and this bustling town has a host of things to offer, from secluded bays, wonderfully fresh seafood and mouth-watering restaurants, head here to escape the masses and get a feel for the genuine, true Dalmatia.

Brac is home to the highest peak on the Adriatic islands, Vidova Gora, and you can hike (or drive!) to it’s peak to enjoy spectacular views over Zlatni Rat beach, Bol, and even over to Hvar on the horizon.
This island will definitely take you off the beaten path, but our glorious villas, situated right on the waterfront, provide the perfect point from which to explore and discover the island for yourselves.

Our View

Villa Mali is a recently renovated, waterfront property in the most brilliant of locations. With direct sea access, breathtakingly beautiful views and all the toys and accessories you could wish for, we’re certain you’ll have one of the best holidays here.

The chic, bohemian interiors have been perfectly curated, with luxurious 100% linen bedding from the White Company, beautiful one-off pieces of furniture and artwork sourced from all over the world. This villa really does have a fantastic, individual charm. As it sits on the same latitude as Tuscany, the gardens are perfect for olives, cypress, fig and lavender, giving them a relaxed, Mediterranean feel.

Each bedroom is as good as the last, with incredibly comfortable beds, large en suite bathrooms with stunning Italian tiles, low-lighting that comes on automatically in the nighttime, and local organic olive oil soap products.

This villa is perfect for those looking for the simpler things in life, without having to compromise on a single aspect of comfort. Wake up to views of the sea, wander down to the swimming platform for an early morning dip and then relax on your bedroom terrace with your morning coffee, whilst you plan the rest of your day – perhaps a trip out on one of the in-house skippered boats, head over to Bol for lunch and a visit to the famous Zlatni Rat beach, before heading back to the villa for a wonderful dinner under the stars…
