The nearest town is medieval Anghiari. It has a few delicious restaurants, cafes and grocery shops.

A 5 minute drive away is Manzi where the local mini-supermarket offers delicious home-cooked italian food (to be ordered the day before).

Citta Di Castello is a large and bustling town with a twice weekly market and plenty of shops and restaurants. Surrounded by its original 16thC walls the town has some magnificent architecture to explore, including the cathedral of Saint Florido and Amanzio. The Pinacoteca Communale houses work by Signorelli, Raffaellino del Colle, Lorenzo Ghiberti and Pomarancio. Set above the river Tiber, the Tiber trail is a shaded riverside walk that lasts for 20km with views of the old town, bell towers and city walls and passes through several local villages. You can find guided canoeing at the start of the trail.

The birthplace of Michelangelo is definitelty worth a visit – Caprese Michelangelo.

Our View

A recently renovated 16th Century farmhouse situated on the lower slopes of the Apennines and very near to the birthplace of Michelangelo, there couldn’t be a better place to explore the delights that Tuscany has to offer. The owners have added super swanky bathrooms, a bright modern kitchen and huge glass windows to encompass the amazing views. Inside the bedrooms are generous in size, decorated simply with quality linens. The living areas are bright and airy with touches of emerald marble and open out onto a large terrace.

Outside, the tennis court, basketball court and running track are brilliant for tiring out hearty children or adults. A huge vine covered pergola on the lower lawn is a great place for a long lunch- don’t leave without trying your hand at making pizzas in the original pizza oven!
