The crystal clear water of the Ionian Islands has to be witnessed first hand. It is said that the seas is so blue that it reflects on the underside of the seagulls as they fly across the water! It is possible to charter a yacht or motor boat to lunch on Anti Paxos (2km) or just to explore the hidden beauty in every bay, drop anchor and swim through the mysterious caves that dot the coastline.
Villa Peri is between the two villages of Lakka and Loggos – nestling in the hills just above the sea. From here you can explore many things on foot, there are beaches within walking distance & it is possible to walk down into Lakka in the evenings (quite a long, steep walk home though!).
The local restaurants are of a high standard serving both traditional Greek food and the most delicious Italian cuisine. Nearby Loggos has a great choice of tavernas and some lovely gift shops as well as a good bakery and some small supermarkets.
White pebble bays on the east coast & majestic white cliffs on the west give families a range of things to explore. For the “intrepid” there are walks through flower-filled olive groves, gentle fishing, snorkelling and diving.
Villa Peri is utterly unique on Paxos. The most striking difference between it and the other villas is its garden – it is a positive explosion of colour and green, such a rarity in Greece. It also boasts a wonderful position above two of the island’s best beaches: Monodendri & Lakkos. The former attacts all the beautiful people visiting the island, it has a great bar, Ben’s bar, and a choice of tavernas. There is a real buzz on the beach in the early evening with Italians mixing with Greeks, drinking cocktails and swaying to the tunes.
The owner of the villa has taken a lot of care with the interiors; it has been beautifully decorated. The rooms are stylish with quirky additions, brightly coloured cushions and fluffy towels. Because it becomes their home for much of the year, the kitchens are extensively equipped.
There are several places to relax outside out of the sun: tiny tables & comfortable chairs can be found in all sorts of nooks in the garden. The swimming pool is big and has an adjacent children’s pool ideal for little ones (or big ones wanting to loll in the water with their novel!)
The house is one of a kind on Paxos, it has a lovely feel & guests love it so much they come back year after year.
