Local Information

Kefalonia, the rugged, romantic island of Captain Corelli‘s Mandolin, is one of Greece’s best kept secrets. Despite being the largest of the seven Ionian islands, it is underpopulated and remains largely unspoilt. The island is famous for its dramatic landscapes and delicious food, enchanting villages, scenic beaches, white dazzling sand and clear waters.

There are many fabulous beaches to explore, to name a few; Alaties beach is a semi-sandy cove with a beach bar/Italian restaurant, great for sunset cocktails. Jerusalem beach is a wide and gently-sloping beach with views to the surrounding bays and has a family-run taverna, for a refreshing drink or ice cream. Myrtos beach is the most famous beach on the island, renowned for its exotic natural beauty, crystal waters, white sand and steep cliffs.

A short drive south you will find Assos, one of the most beautiful and picturesque villages on the island, a tranquil Venetian village with an impressive Venetian fortress. Amble along the small and winding streets, enjoy lunch in one of the waterside tavernas, and wander up the long paved path to explore the fortress grounds above, taking in the magnificent views on the way.

Fiscardo is a colourful and vibrant port on the eastern coast, a short drive from the house. The port promenade is brimming with fine restaurants and tavernas to satisfy everyone’s palate, cafes and shops, housed in renovated Venetian style mansions. By night, Fiscardo takes on an entirely different perspective, considered to be the most cosmopolitan spot in the Ionian Sea, the charming waterfront is lit up and bustling.

Traditional Kefalonian fishing boats moor alongside the more extravagant temporary visitors during the summer. If you are early enough you can buy freshly caught fish. Otherwise a stroll around the harbour will take you on a tour of some of the most luxurious yachts, attracted to Kefalonia by the tranquility of Fiscardo.

Our View

This traditional stone built villa is in a private and quiet setting and benefits from glorious sea and sunset views.

Interiors are light, bright and spacious. The accommodation comprises a well-appointed kitchen, spacious open plan living and dining space with vaulted ceiling and exposed white painted beams. The master bedroom is on the top floor with a private balcony, a further two bedrooms are at pool level with direct terrace access.

There is a great terrace surrounded by old olive trees, with sun loungers for everyone.

This house is very well placed for exploring the north of Kefalonia, with two small beaches nearby and Fiscardo just a short drive away. We should also mention the comes with a wonderful concierge! He will be on hand at any time with a wealth of local knowledge and lots of tips and recommendations to share.
