Menorca
Menorca is the most laid back of the Balearics, it is a great place for families due to its fabulous sandy beaches. The water sports here are second to none, learn to sail, windsurf or paddle board
One fifth of the size of its neighbouring island of Mallorca, this small island has so much to offer. It has miles and miles of amazing gold beaches, secluded coves, beautiful villages & stunning marinas.
The capital is the harbour-town of Mahon has a wealth of history, it is home to the world’s second largest natural harbour (the biggest is Pearl Harbor).
Mayonnaise was invented in Menorca in 1756. Based on the local alioli recipe, "Mahonnaise" was an instant success and is now found worldwide!
Menorca boasts pretty much guaranteed sunshine (more than 300 sunny days a year!), wonderful safe beaches with calm waters. It is the perfect environment for sailing (the GB team often trains here) with natural inlets and coves in which to learn so great for beginners too. The longest beach is at Son Bou where there are many great bars and watersports. Wooden boards stretch out across a two kilometre stretch of beach, lifeguards keep watch from wooden towers (not unlike those in Santa Monica!) and a little bit of something for everyone.
There is a great coastal footpath which has been recently finished which makes Menorca a year-round destination.
